Two new exhibitions opening at KZNSA gallery


Common Ground

John Roome opens the exhibition on 31 July 2007 at 6pm

Artists’ walkabout on 3 August 2007 from 12.45 to 1.45pm

Exhibition closes on 19 August 2007 at 12pm

Carla da Cruz, Raksha Gobardan, Vena Naidoo, Alison North, Witty Nyide and Lindsay Phillips present a cross-section of the technical and conceptual concerns of the Ceramics Department of the Durban University of Technology under the leadership of Hendrik Stroebel. Collectively, the artists use ceramics and mixed media, installation, found objects, video and sound to indicate the direction of contemporary South African ceramics.

Nathi Gumede opens the exhibition on 31 July 2007 at 6pm

Artists’ walkabout on 2 August 2007 from 3 to 4.30pm

Cold walk

The Nivea Gallery, supported by Beiersdorf, is a space designated to promote the work of young artists. In Under 21, Claude Chandler bases his paintings on portraiture and the historic meanings of clothing, while Lydon Cadle explores the tactile viscerality of leather.
